Why Run For Council?

Over the past six or so months of thinking to run for city council, I have been asked many times, "Why bother"?

While from some of my friends this is a rhetorical  question, others really wanted to know.

Well, the short answer is because I care.  I care about the city that I live and work in, and so should all of you.

Over the past 12 plus years of doing business on Broughton, and for many years before at other businesses, I like many of you have seen deterioration  in our city that could have been at least mitigated, if not entirely avoided. We have had successive councils that through inaction, or misguided actions have made things worse. We have a crumbling infrastructure, (Bad roads and sidewalks), we have a crime problem that needs to be properly addressed, we have 24/7 camping in parks and the lack of resources to deal with it. We have an underfunded police force, not enough bylaw officers, and the list goes on. That is enough of the past.

Over the next month, I will be posting to this blog site more details of where I stand on issues that are affecting us all, and on what I personally would like to see moving forward.

You can bet that the words integrity and accountability will be mentioned more than once.
